This listing is for sale ONE note ONLY. The scanned image displayed the front and back of the exact note you will receive.
The $1 1869 United States Note is a beautifully intricate piece of currency with a striking and colorful design that stands out among U.S. notes. The central feature of the obverse is a finely detailed portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States.
The most notable aspect of this note is its multicolored background. The "Rainbow" nickname comes from the blend of colors used that give it a vibrant appearance. The left side of the note fades into a light blue color, which transitions across the note. The right side features green hues that complement the blue on the left.
The back of the note is primarily green, which is standard for U.S. currency, but it features an intricate design of scrollwork, filigree, and geometric patterns that cover the entire surface.
Boasting a GEM centering and original paper wave, this Rainbow note boasts a vibrant color and deep inking. It has been designated as EPQ and has received high praise from PMG for its exceptional color.
Upon closer examination, this example exhibits only a slight fold at the top left corner, preventing it from achieving a Choice Uncirculated grade. It is a prime example of a Choice AU Rainbow note that pleased the toughest collectors.
