The $5 bill, series of 1899 silver certificates featured a portrait of Indian American. His name is well known by Running Antelope became a head chief of the Tatokainyanka in 1851. He was born in 1821 in South Dakota and passed away in 1896. Three years later, his portrait was depicted on the $5 Dollar Bill Silver Certificate. There were four denominations from the series of 1899 silver certificates which is $1 Black Eagle, $2 Mini-Porthole, $5, and $10. But only three of them were released. All of these silver certificates were backed by physical silver from the stockpile US Treasury until this practice was halted on June 24, 1968, by the passage Act of June 4, 1963.
