The 1917 $2 Two Dollars Bill United State Note was the last Large Size $2 Legal Tender Note ever printed by The Bureau, Engraving & Printing Company with the measures 7.4218 inches by 3.125 inches.
The 1917 $2 Legal Tender Note was issued during a period of great change in US paper money production, which is an interesting historical fact. At 7.375 inches by 3.125 inches, they are much larger than modern-day currency. This size was common for American Paper Money during the 19th and early 20th centuries, but it was phased out in the 1920s as the country shifted to smaller, more standardized bills.
On the left side of the 1917 $2's obverse was a depiction of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States. The presidential portrait shared the design with the vignette of the United States Capitol Building centered. This is the old Capital Building at that time. President Jefferson's portrait also displayed on the $2 bill dates back to 1869 on the $2 “Rainbow Note” and continues to the present day.
The Front And Back of 1917 $2 Legal Tender Note "Bracelet Reverse"
From the top-right The numeral "2" is in highly stylized scrollwork indicating the denomination besides the words “THIS NOTE IS A LEGAL FOR TWO DOLLARS” are printed on the note to assure the recipient that the note is legal for all public and private debt.
The serial numbers repeated two times on the top right and bottom left. The red seal at the bottom right with the over-print “Washington. D.C” printed with bolded black ink. The red seal has been also used as a symbol indicated for most of the United States Note.
From the reverse, the numeral "2" is highly stylized and appear in each of the four corners of the reverse. There is a bracelet made of shields designed around the giant centered numeral "2" interspersed with ornate pattern designs which make up the numismatic nickname the $2 Two Dollar bill "Bracelet Reverse".
There are four varieties of signature combinations for the 1917 $2 Legal Tender Note. Most of them came from the Fr.60. But none of them is more scarce than any. All of the four combination signature varieties equal the same value.
