This is the first $2 Two Dollars Legal Tender Note was issued by the goverment. The front of the note featured a portrait of Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury. The reverse side was relatively simple, with ornate designs and the denomination prominently displayed. This note was part of a broader series of legal tender notes known as "greenbacks" due to their distinctive green ink on the reverse side.
This example came from the Fr.41 which has series 109 features a decent shape. All notes during this era were printed on thin paper, making them susceptible to damage during circulation.
PMG graded at VF 20, with minor imperfections such as pinholes and previous mounting. Upon closer examination, no visible traces of mounting were found, making it difficult to prove its existence. We believed PMG might strict on this note.
