Bangladesh is a part of South Asia. This country is the 8th-most populous country in the world (163 million people) with a total area of 56,980 square miles. Dhaka is the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. The official and national language are Bengali. The dense Muslim population makes Bangladesh is the 3rd-largest Muslim majority country.
The history of Bangladeshi Taka.
After declaring independence from Pakistan in 1971. Before that, Bangladesh was only a province in East Pakistan and was sharing the same currency with West Pakistan which is Indian Rupee.
Since 1972, the Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) has been in circulation with denominations of 5, 10, 100 taka notes.
Followed by 1977, the 50 takas were introduced. In 1979, 500 taka notes were introduced, and 20 takas in 1982.
In 2000, the new material was applied to these banknotes. However, polymer banknotes were not very popular with users and were canceled. In 2008, the 1000 taka notes were issued by the government.
Later on, in 2011, the Bangladesh government had introduced the new denomination of 2, 5, 100, 500, and 1000 taka notes with new features. A portrait of the Father of the nation Sheikh Mujib and the national Martyrs memorial on the front. On 7 March 2012, a new denomination of banknote was introduced. These are available in 10, 20, 50 taka notes.
Since then, these banknotes were kept the same designs but different colors and better security to prevent counterfeiting.
