The information about Ukraine.
Ukraine is a country that lies within Eastern Europe. Ukraine is the second-largest and the eighth-most populous country in the European region with 233,062 square miles and 41.5 million. The capital and largest city is Kyiv. Ukrainian is the official language of Ukraine. The current unit of currency is the Ukrainian Hryvnia.
The history of the Ukrainian Hryvnia.
The earliest coin in Western history was created in Ukraine. They were called zlatnyks for gold coins and sriblianyks for silver coins.
On Mar 1, 1918, the Central Council of Ukraine had declared the “hryvnia'' as the new official currency which replaced the previous unit that was the “karbovanets”. In the same year, Pavlo Skoropadskyi reintroduced the karbovantes but soon was replaced again in December by Vynnychenko and Petliura who were headers of the Directorate. The word “Hryvnia” was derived from an old currency in Kyvian Rus’ country. In Slavit means the “mane” which is something worthy worn on the neck such as a necklace.
In 1996, the first series banknote of hryvnia was finally introduced by the National Bank of Ukraine in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20 hryvnias. These banknotes were designed by two Ukrainian artists, Vasyl Lopata and Borys Maksymov. Also, they were printed in Canada and the US.
Also in 1996, the second series banknote of hryvnia was introduced. The denominations were kept the same until the 2000s, the 50, 100, and 200 hryvnias denominations were contributed in this series. The designs were changed, however, the concepts on this series were still kept the same as the previous such as the portraits of Prince of Novgorod or historical places in Ukraine. Since this time, the banknotes are no longer produced.
The third series banknote of hryvnia was introduced in 2006 and available from 1 hryvnia up to 500 hryvnias. This series can be considered as the most colorful to other series because of its variety of colors. The concept of portraits of important Ukraine was still kept. However, on the opposite side, places or buildings in Ukraine were changed.
The latest and also the fourth series banknote of hryvnia was introduced in 2019. Small denominations were canceled due to decreased users. Hence, the denominations were circulated in 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1 000 hryvnias. Respectively, the concepts were remaining the same, more textures were added to prevent counterfeiting while there were 2.8 billion bills that were forged since 2015.
