This is the first $5 Two Dollars Legal Tender Note was issued by the goverment. The front of the note featured a small portrait of Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury. And the statue of Freedom on the right side. The serial number and treasury seal was printed by a cherry red color.
The back of the note is primarily green, a characteristic that earned the early U.S. currency the nickname "greenbacks." The design is simpler compared to later notes, focusing on the denomination and text rather than elaborate artwork.
This is a moderately circulated Fr.62 1862 $5 Legal Tender Note. It has been graded as Fine 12 and is a problem-free example, making it an excellent addition to any collector's collection at an affordable price.
