This Fr.224 1896 $1 Silver Certificate, known as the "EDUCATIONAL NOTE," is a highly regarded representation of U.S. currency. It features a vignette titled "History Instructing Youth" in front of a view of Washington D.C. and is considered one of the most beloved and recognizable notes ever circulated by the United States.
The note has been graded by PCGS at CHOICE UNCIRCULATED 64. Honesty, we bought a pair of sequential serial numbers; another one was graded 58 PPQ and this one was graded 64 none PPQ. I questioned myself why, since this one had a great embossing. The things turned out that might be the minor stain upper left on the back held it back from the PPQ designation. Despite its grade, the note boasts a GEM centering, bold inking, and stunning appearance. As a highly sought-after "EDUCATIONAL NOTE" among collectors, this example is a must-have for any collection.
