Fr.41 1862 $2 Two Dollars Legal Tender Note, PMG 25

This listing is for sale ONE note ONLY. The scanned image displayed the front and back of the exact note you will receive.

This is the first $2 Two Dollars Legal Tender Note was issued by the goverment. The front of the note featured a portrait of Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury. The reverse side was relatively simple, with ornate designs and the denomination prominently displayed. This note was part of a broader series of legal tender notes known as "greenbacks" due to their distinctive green ink on the reverse side.

This example features a decent shape and centering. All notes during this era were printed on thin paper, making them susceptible to damage during circulation.  Looking for a note without any paper issues can be a challenge. But this example with a PMG VF 30 grade problem-free, is the ideal choice for any collector who wants perfection.
