This "Poker Chip" $10 legal tender note from 1923, part of the highly coveted series, holds a special place in American currency. It ranks #46 in the 100 Greatest American Currency Notes, as chosen by currency experts Q. David Bowers and David M. Sundman.
On the front, you'll find a prominent portrait of Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. On either side of the portrait are bold, scalloped red Treasury Seals, a Roman numeral X denomination counter, and red serial numbers. Interestingly, the "Poker Chip" nickname comes from the back design. Unlike other currency notes, this one's reverse features a lot of blank space, a popular trend during that era. Plus, the denomination counters on each side resemble poker chips, making it eye-catching and distinctive.
