This $10 silver certificate featured the portrailt of Robert Morris on the left side. He was a Founding Father, Financier of the American Revolution, and served as Superintendent of Finance from 1781 to 1784. Morris was instrumental in stabilizing the fledgling U.S. economy during and after the Revolution.
The unique brownish-red overprint on the Treasury and striking design on the back, in a rich brownish-black hue featuring the word "SILVER," need no introduction to any collector. This guarantee backed note, nicknamed a "Black Back" Silver Certificate, has long been a favorite among collectors.
This is a Fr#289 example, with Bruce and Wyman's signatures. PMG graded it as VF 20, and there's a PMG-noted annotation on the back. A great find for collectors on a budget!
