Europe is a continent that lies in the Northern Hemisphere. Europe borders the Arctic Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Mediterranean Ocean. Europe is considered the second smallest continent (3,930,000 square miles). It was separated from Asia by mountains and rivers. Europe is divided into 4 major regions: Western Uplands, North European Plain, Central Uplands, and Alpine Mountains. There are 44 sovereign states in the European region.
European culture is also known as the origin of Western Civilization since the 12th-9th centuries BC. During the 16th century, European powers had colonized other continents, the majority of their power was in Asia. Until world wars, Western Europe had finally ceased. The world dominance then was left to the United States and the Soviet Union in mid 20th. In 1949, as the result of the European integration of some states, the European Union (EU) was created. The Euro is the most used currency in European countries.
Still, some countries that aren’t a part of the EU had provided their own currency. Such as the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Sweden, Croatia, Crezen Republic, Denmark, and Poland. Interestingly, some countries shared identical currencies as a result of common language, culture, and history.
Currently, the economy of Europe is considered the largest region in the world. The total assets of the European economy are about $32.7 trillion. In addition, Europe also lasts as the wealthiest region in the world. Even though Europe had suffered two World Wars and was harsh on this land. Consequently, this region rarely had any large denomination compared to other regions.
