Fr.269 1896 $5 Five Dollars Silver Certificate "EDUCATIONAL NOTE", PCGS 63
This listing is for sale ONE note ONLY. The scanned image displayed the front and back of the exact note you will receive.
The 1896 $5 Silver Certificate, also known as the "EDUCATIONAL NOTE," features an intricate design on the front which depicts "Electricity Presenting Light to the World." This allegorical subject and design makes it a highly coveted note among collectors, especially in its Choice Uncirculated condition.
This example is graded by PCGS at Choice Uncirculated 63. Throughout our review, the note had a 1cm bend at top right border which might prevented it from GEM note. Original paper quality and even deep inking, boast a GEM centering which makes it stand out from the rest of the notes that are being offered.
Fun fact about this note, we bought and sold it to a dealer as raw condition at the Long Beach coin show. Six months later, we had the chance to view it again after it was encapsulated by PCGS. This particular note is the highest grade we have ever had the opportunity to handle in our inventory.
